Contemporary folk from East of Europe. Lakvar from Stuttgart inspire with contemporary folk music from the Balkans. The band was founded by the Hungarian-Bulgarian singer Hajnalka Péter and the Georgian composer and guitarist Zura Dzagnidze. Their sound combines the diverse musical and cultural backgrounds of their band members: from traditional folk music from Eastern Europe to jazz, to progressive rock and experimental influences. They combine strong melodies with complex rhythms, quiet and fragile moments, free improvisation and virtuosity. Her album Sabotage and Tradition made it to number 5 on the Balkan World Music Charts and was voted for nominated for the German Record Critics' Prize in the World Music category.
