African Rumba. Ray Lema, the Congolese Afro-beat pioneer, is in his fifty-year career as a drummer, singer, pianist and Composer of African world music achieved worldwide fame. The multi-instrumentalist, singer and saxophonist conducted in Ghana several bands, toured West Africa and Europe and then spent a long time in the USA, where he won numerous awards, including Best World Beat recombinant Artist. He received several Lifetime Achievement Awards and an award for the “first (in 1973) commercially recorded rap”. He is now enjoying the success of his 30th album Ketan again on the road – together with his original eight-piece band Sekondi!
