Nueva Cumbia Chilena. The Chilean band Chico Trujillo is considered and celebrated as a “world-class party band” (NY Times). The band has been successful internationalyfor over 20 years. In 1999 the former punk rockers turned to Cumbia sound and quickly became the most important band for the subculture in Santiago de Chile. The members of Chico Trujillo are among the “forefathers” of the new cumbia movement and are considered “midwives” for dozens of cumbia nueva bands that have since conquered the world. The face and soul is the bandleader and singer Aldo Asenjo alias Macha, who was recently named the best frontman and most important musician in his generation by La Tercera.
